That’s about me in a nut shell, I went to local schools, before getting a job at a local printing company. From there I went back to study my diploma while working at a local computer store. Now I work for the Uniting Church in Australia, in the IT Department, and love the work I do.
I was happily married in Nov 2007, to a lovely lady named Emma. Not only is she the girl of my dreams, she is a top Chick.
Photography Experiences:
I don’t remember my first interest in photography but I do remember a number of instances in my photographic life so far.
I remember saving up to get my first 35mm camera. (It had a short life, as digital came along a few years later) I also remember getting my first roll of film developed, only to have all but about one of the photos blurred.
During high school I took an after school photography class and started to learn about the world of light and its interactions with the objects around me. I started to play with shutter speeds and f-stops. With my favourite shots being exposures of over 30 seconds.
My first digital camera was a Christmas present from my parents. It was a VGA camera with no screen and would hold about 8 photos before needing to be downloaded to the computer. With it I took 100’s of photos before upgrading to a better model. (Still with no screen).
I have had many cameras over the years, and currently have a Lumix DMC FZ-50 and an Olympus uTough 8000. I especially love very fast exposures or delayed exposure photography. In each of my photographs I try to gain a different perspective of my targets by getting up high or down low to take the shot.
I believe that my work is improving, and I hope that this photo blog reflects that. I am constantly learning from poorly taken photos and am finding my hobby hugely rewarding.
How the site came about:
I have always loved photography. Continually striving to get the best shots I could with my knowledge and equipment I had at the time. My parents have always encouraged me with my hobbies, even with things such as picking me up after the extended photography class after school, and giving me a number of cameras as Birthday presents, Christmas presents.
It was my wife that really helped me to appreciate my skills in photography. While viewing some of my collection one day, Emma encouraged me to print out some of my shots so I could place them around my house for the world to see.
Wanting a place I could display my works I moved to an Internet blog that I already had which was being used to post family news. As I continued to add photos I decided to split that site from my photos and start a dedicated space for my photos.
